If you have never called your phone, internet, or cable provider to ask for a discount then you’re paying too much. Today I called our internet provider and will be saving about $15/month and got an insurance package that covers our modem and wiring. This promotion will last for 12 months and after that our bill will go back up again, but I won’t let that happen. Before it expires I will call again and get setup with another promotion. Sometimes I’ll randomly call even when a promotion isn’t close to expiring just to see if there’s anything else I can qualify for and sometimes that works too.
I’ve been doing this for years and most providers have promotions for “valued” or “loyal” customers. Don’t think that you need to switch providers or be a new customer to get a good deal. Companies want to keep you happy and should treat you right if you’ve been with them for awhile. If not, then switch.
My phone call lasted 11 minutes and we’ll save about $180 this next year. That’s 11 minutes well spent!
