Here at my house, we love Halloween! We love dressing up, trick-or-treating, corn mazes, decorating, egg nog, and Nightmare Before Christmas! My husband refuses to watch scary shows, so Harry Potter is about as scary as it gets in our house, so Halloween for us is all fun. However, finding the perfect costume can be time-consuming and expensive. I want to help you focus on the fun and not stress about the cost of that perfect costume. Below are some of my favorite inexpensive, DIY, or reusable costume ideas. And don’t worry, I don’t sew.

Halloween Costume Ideas
Scary Mummy
This is my daughter as a mummy. She wore a white shirt, white leggings, and then I ripped up and old sheet that we no longer used and wrapped and tied it around her. Add a little black around the eyes and a white face and she thought it was awesome! Easy, cheap, comfortable, perfect!
Cute Duck
This is my other daughter as a duck. I spent a minimal amount making this by buying a yellow shirt with a Michael’s coupon, a piece of orange foam for the feet, orange visor for the hat, and a bag of yellow feathers. We already had yellow leggings and orange socks. My daughter’s favorite animal is a duck so she loved this costume!
Baby Stuffed Animal
This was my daughter as a little baby and we needed her to be a fish for our family Cat in the Hat theme. I found a goldfish stuffed animal at a garage sale, pulled out the stuffing, cut a hole for her head, and voila! While you might not be looking specifically to turn your baby into a fish for Halloween, my advice is you don’t need to spend $30 on a store-bought baby costume when hollowing out a stuffed animal can do the trick.
The Incredibles
This is me, my little boy, and husband quite a few years ago as The Incredibles. This costume couldn’t be easier, wear red, paint masks around your eyes, and print out and tape on an Incredibles logo.
White clothes, electrical tape, and a paper plate. It’s creative, cheap, and works for any age!
These are all items you can get at the dollar store. Use a little hot glue and you’re all set to make your little girl a flower pot!
Love the creativity and simplicity of these Jelly Bean bags. All you need are clear plastic garbage bags, mini balloons, and don’t forget the detail of writing the nutrition facts on the back with a sharpie.
I don’t know why, but we have yet to do this awesome costume! We’re huge LEGO fans! Maybe this is the year I’ll get out the spray paint and cardboard and show our true LEGO love!
Only materials here are a cardboard box, cardstock sheets of paper, and black tape or paint.
Adorable Ghost
If you already have a white tutu, make an adorable ghost! If not, get some tulle and felt and have fun!
I think I could get my husband to go along with me on these. Just use black shirts and cut squares from Duct tape.
