2016_December_IncomeReport

Today I’m sharing my 6th income report! Check out my past income reports here. My goal is to make money from home while keeping my family as my number one priority. This means I’m cooking, cleaning, going on field trips, arranging play dates, driving to/from sports, etc. and then working from home in my “spare” time. I hope you can gain some insight into what works (or doesn’t) and how you can make money from home too!

December turned out way better than I anticipated thanks to my Etsy shop! My shop isn’t quite a year old yet, so I hadn’t experienced the Christmas rush before! Holy cow, it went crazy! My Etsy sales in October were $106.80, November I made $394, and December I made $1,519.30! That’ll help pay for Christmas for sure! However, with all the craziness of the season and my kids being home from school for over two weeks, I didn’t work on this blog or my side hustles very much. The great thing about many of my “jobs” is that they’re mostly passive and I still made money from all of them.  Here’s the details of how December turned out…

Why I Publish Income Reports

If it weren’t for other bloggers posting their income reports I would have never started this blog. I am so grateful for their willingness to be open, honest, transparent, and inspire me to get started blogging. I hope I can do the same for you! If you want to start a blog, read my step by step tutorial here.

Conclusion

December was my best month financially so far on My Income Journey! I’m thrilled that I passed the $2,000 mark! Sometimes I think to myself that I have too many things going on, too many side hustles, piano, photography, blogging, Etsy, etc. etc. etc. and that I should focus in on one specific job. Find my niche and focus on that (like many other blogs recommend). But that’s not me. I enjoy trying new things and I want to share with you what works and what doesn’t. Some months blogging is my #1 income source, some months it’s piano, obviously this month Etsy blew everything else away. So go ahead and diversify your income, give something new a try, learn a new skill. Every job I do on My Income Journey is low risk and easy to get started. Now go on and start your own income journey!

  1. This is such a helpful blog post! Thank you for breaking it down in such great detail, this is beyond helpful. We’ve been considering posting our photos online for sale but don’t know where to start and now we have a few great websites- thank you so much!

  2. Thanks for sharing your income report! The information is great, and it gives me some ideas. 🙂

  3. This is so inspiring!! I always love reading these because like you said, it makes me realize that it’s possible! Thank you for putting this out there! And congrats on such a successful month!! Can’t wait to see what this new year has in store for you! 🙂

  4. This is a great post – I am going to email it to myself! thanks in particular for the sites to sell photos on. Good passive income source!

  5. These income reports are so inspiring. I really would like to see how I could make etsy work for me in 2017. For your digital products, do you use an automated service to e-mail the files to your customers? I haven’t cracked that nut yet!

    1. For the digital products that don’t require any editing on my part I just upload the file to Etsy in the listing and the customer can instantly download it after purchasing it. Etsy makes it really easy to do that. For the downloads that I need to edit after purchase I just email them to the customer after I’m finished editing them. I haven’t even looked into a way to have an automated service email them since it’s pretty easy for me to do it myself. Do you already have an Etsy shop?

      1. Thank you! I didn’t realize they had a file upload feature, but will check that out! I occasionally offer digital items on my site, but so far have only offered them as editable by me, as I wasn’t sure the best way to automatically share a .psd file.

  6. Isn’t December the best for blogging income? Are you an affiliate anywhere? That can be really helpful, especially during the holidays. Thanks for sharing!

  7. It’s so cool to see how other bloggers are monetizing their sites. I had no idea that selling your photography was worth money; always some good ideas that I have never thought of before! We’re in our 4th month trying to monetize our blog and I’m excited to see what our numbers are as well. Congrats!

  8. Awesome job! I love that you’re making a good go of it without defining your niche (something I struggle to do too). I’m wanting to get into selling stock photos for some passive income and am working on an ebook about lifestyle/blog photography. Thank you for sharing what’s working for you!

  9. Thats amazing that you made that much from etsy! I am soon starting my own business and your income report just came me such a great positive vibe for my new business.

  10. Thanks for sharing. This is super insightful! Wish you lots of success going forward! Your etsy stuff is really lovely btw! X
