How I’ve Made Over $1,000 With My New Blog

How I’ve Made Over $1,000 With My New Blog

Today is Nov. 14, 2016. I started My Income Journey in June 2016 so I'm just about at my 6 month anniversary. That's counting from day one with absolutely nothing on this site. No name, no content, no knowledge of how to do any of this! The past 6 months have gone by crazy fast and I feel like I just started this a month ago. I am still a small site by almost all measures, my pageviews are just about to hit the 10,000/month mark this month, I haven't paid for any advertising, I have only done one guest post, I don't have any products of my own (yet), and I'm only active on three social media sites (FB, Pinterest, Twitter). So in all, I'd say I still have a lot of room to grow! Even though I'm still small, I've made $1,062 with this blog! Woo Hoo! If you read my income reports, you know I make more money with other jobs I do from home and I do not put full-time hours into this site. This blog has been a bit of an experiment to see if I could actually make money and I think it's working. I'm excited about the endless possibilities blogging provides and the income potential is huge! I believe my income for these first 6 months was probably the hardest earned income. Getting the site setup the way I wanted, gaining a following from zero (haven't even told my family about this yet), figuring out how to monetize, etc. was a huge learning curve. However, it's been easier than I anticipated. I really didn't think I'd make any money more than a few dollars from some ads per month. Obviously that has not been the case and now I'd like to share with you how I've made these first few months of blogging profitable. This page contains ads/affiliate links. Unique Christmas Gift Ideas

Unique Christmas Gift Ideas

I love toys that get you to think outside the box, learn something new, or stretch your imagination. My kids don't even know a lot of these awesome toys exist so they end up asking for the same type of gifts every year. I enjoy surprising them with all sorts of random stuff that they end up loving! My husband also appreciates gifts that are a bit more fun than socks or a tie. So below are some unique online stores that offer one-of-a-kind toys for all ages. I've been having a ball searching their sites and getting all sorts of ideas for Christmas! Enjoy!! This page contains ads/affiliate links. See my full disclosure for details.

How To Budget For Christmas

How to Budget for Christmas

There are few things in life that are more fun than giving someone you care about the perfect gift! Watching a child squeal with excitement when he sees what he got, shocking your spouse when you get him exactly what he wanted but never thought he'd get, or showing your gratitude for a teacher or friend. There's nothing quite like it! Unfortunately, those perfect gifts can come with a not-so-perfect price tag. It's fun to walk the isles of Target and fill up your cart, but even if your intentions are good you can't let the joy of giving blind you to the realities of your finances. That's why I'm sharing with you the method I use to keep my shopping under control during the holidays. My Christmas is a little brighter when I know exactly how much I've spent, what I've bought, where I bought it, and that I didn't leave anyone off my list. Don't let your credit card bill in January shock you because you went crazy in December. Here's how I do it. This page contains ads/affiliate links. See my full disclosure for details.

October 2016 Income Report

October 2016 Income Report

Today I'm sharing my 4th income report! Check out my past income reports here. My goal is to make money from home while keeping my number one priority to be my family. This means I'm cooking, cleaning, going on field trips, arranging play dates, driving to/from sports, etc. and then working from home in my "spare" time. I hope you can gain some insight into what works (or doesn't) and how you can make money from home too! Overall October was decent. Not as great as September, but I was expecting it to be less. We were fortunate to take our kids on an awesome vacation for about a week of October. During that time I closed my Etsy shop, didn't teach piano lessons, and didn't blog. So keep in mind that these numbers represent only 3 weeks of working, pre & post-vacation recovery, and Halloween craziness making the month very busy from a mom point of view. Overall I'm very happy to be able to bring in any income without sacrificing my way of life or my kids' schedules. Let's take a look at the October details!
