This week was a much more productive couponing week than last week. Back to school snacks are starting to be on sale and produce is still inexpensive so that adds up to great savings! Take a look above at what I got!
If you’re thinking, “that’s a lot of cereal!”, I agree! Remember that part of being a deliberate shopper is you have to take advantage of the sales and stock up while you can. We won’t eat 9 boxes of cereal in one week (especially with those giant family sized boxes) or all those cookies and twinkies. We typically go through one, maybe two boxes in a week. As mentioned in my couponing article here, a major part of cutting your grocery bill is stocking up when items are cheap. I won’t be buying cereal or treats again for at least a month unless there’s another sale to take advantage of. Also keep in mind that I have three growing kids that I occasionally let snack on things like Cheez Its or Ritz crackers (I know, I know, terrible Mom here), but they do eat plenty of fruits and veggies too! These items we would be buying anyway and I don’t recommending buying things just because you have a coupon. I don’t have a baby in diapers anymore, but when I can get free wipes then I buy them and donate them.
On the items above I spent $29.26 and the full retail price would be $113.05!! That’s a 75% savings! This is because of a combination of the items being on sale, me having a physical coupon or ecoupon, and ibotta rebates.
Here’s a detailed look at everything I bought, the retail price, and how much I paid.
If you’re wondering about my total grocery bill savings, here’s a look at my receipt. The items listed above are featured because they were the best savings that I deliberately purchased because of the sales deals. I did also buy milk, meat, bread, etc. My total receipt savings were 47%. In addition to those savings, I got an ibotta rebate, $6 towards my daughter’s gymnastics fees, $0.12 off my next gas purchase, and $3.60 in money back on my credit card.
